Breton House is located in the Town of Port Hawkesbury, The Gateway to Cape Breton. It's a great location to strike out from to take the Cabot Trail, Fluer De Lis Trail, Baddeck, Ingonnish and the rest of Cape Breton.

• Do you accept pets?
  We love explorers of all types, especially animals and we'd love to host your pet. They must be well behaved, house trained and clean. We love when pets stay, we just ask for prior notice and a small additional fee to cover the additional cleaning.
  


• Are your amenities Disabled access friendly?
  The whole of Breton House is on one level. However, you need to climb a flight of deck steps (7 steps) to reach the ground floor. We are working on accessibility for all. Please bear with us and feel free to contact us for help or further info.
  


• How many months in advance do you recommend me to book?
  We are quite a popular guest house as we are in a great location and tend to book a while in advance. Please contact us early to avoid disappointment.
  


• Do you offer long-term site rental?
  Unfortunately we do not offer long term rentals. One month is the maximum stay length right now.

As with most areas of Cape Breton, it is best to have a car. There is little public transit in most of Cape Breton. However, there are inter-town bus shuttle services and in Port Hawkesbury there are taxis and a Strait Area Transit bus available by request

• By plane: Fly into Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) From here it is a 2hr 20 min drive. There is also a smaller airport in Sydney, NS; J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport (YQY) From here it is a 1hr 50 min drive.
  



• By bus: There are a few shuttle bus services between the airport, Halifax and the major towns in Nova Scotia, including Port Hawkesbury. The main Bus service is the Maritime Bus (1-800-575-1807) though there are other services available. Just google search shuttle buses nova scotia.
  


• By car: From Halifax airport; take the 102 north towards Truro. Take exit 15E for Trans-Canada Highway/NS-104 E toward New Glasgow/Cape Breton/PEI Ferry Caribou, Merge onto Trans-Canada Hwy/NS-104 E, Continue on NS-104. Drive to MacSween St in Port Hawkesbury
